Who are you?
Hi! My name is Lindsay. I’m a thirty-something passion-seeking, travel-loving, word-smithing, foodie. I strive to balance my life with equal parts of self-evolution and reflection. Jack Kerouac’s quote from On the Road guides my soul, “The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a common place thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars.”

Why talk travel?
As an Army Brat who has traveled all over the world, I get hungry for the sense of awe I feel every time I travel somewhere new, and I catch the wunder/wonder/wander bug every time I see a map. Where will my next adventure be? Who will I meet? And most importantly, what will I eat? I hope this blog will infect you with thewunderbug and inspire you to be more than an armchair traveler! As Mark Twain says, “Throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade wins in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

What do you do?
I write. Duh. I have a degree in magazine journalism from the University of Kansas (can I get a Rock Chalk?) For the past 13 years, I’ve worked as a journalist and marketing professional rocking magazine publishing to digital and content marketing to public relations. I also occasionally blog about my family’s adoption stories, and hope to someday turn it into a book.
Enough about work, how do you spend your free time?
I moved to Colorado 10 years ago from the Alabama Gulf Coast because I realized it was time for me to stop looking for myself and time to start creating myself. In March, 2016, we picked up to move to Uganda, but within the month I was laid off and free to explore the best classroom we’ve ever encountered: the World. Since then, we’ve traveled to South Africa, Nepal, Malayasia and Bali.
I’m a reformed run-a-holic (I ran three full marathons, six half marathons, two long distance relay races in the span of three years until my knee said, No More!). Now I’m much better at that balance thing I mentioned earlier. I still love physical activity – especially physical activity outdoors – and hit the trails, roads and outdoor pools regularly. I literally work at improving my balance with yoga and bar classes (hot yoga has changed my life!) My boyfriend Jay and I enjoy trying new restaurants as well as exploring new dishes in our home kitchen.
